Backup and Cloud Storage
In today’s rapidly evolving IT landscape, a solid backup strategy is not merely a safety measure but a strategic investment that strengthens your organization’s resilience. In the event of data corruption, cyberattacks, or unexpected outages, a reliable backup serves as the digital insurance policy for your critical information. At Interconnect, you will find exactly that level of reliability.
The 3-2-1-1-0 rule
The 3-2-1-1-0 rule is incorporated into the backup plan of the majority of organizations. In other words:
- you maintain at least three copies of your data, including the production copy;
- you use at least two different storage media, for example tape and cloud storage;
- at least one copy is stored off-site for rapid disaster recovery.
These measures establish a solid basis for data protection. However, you could take it a step further by adding an extra '1' symbolizing verification. While frequent backups are crucial, unconfirmed backups remain a danger. Make sure your backups are checked, error-free, and tested on a regular basis using recovery exercises. Finally, we recommend saving one copy with immutability, which prohibits the backup from being changed under any conditions.
