Interconnect runs on Dutch green energy

Corporate social responsibility has many different aspects. One of them is the impact the organization has on the environment. That is why we have switched completely to using Dutch green energy from July 1, 2023.

Groene Stroom Interconnect

Corporate social responsibility has many different aspects. One of them is the impact the organization has on the environment. That is why we have switched completely to using Dutch green energy from July 1, 2023.

Europe energy neutral

The European Union aims to make Europe the first climate-neutral continent by 2050. This means that all European countries must no longer emit any greenhouse gases. This goal is established in the European Climate Act. To achieve climate neutrality as a country, the Netherlands has developed additional policies, aiming for a CO2 reduction of at least 55% by 2030.

'Climate Neutral Data Center Pact'

To support the climate goals of both the European Union and the Dutch government, the Dutch Data Center Association (DDA) has joined the Climate Neutral Datacenter Pact. The pact aims to make data centers in Europe climate neutral by 2030. We follow the DDA’s policy and support the goals of the Climate Neutral Datacenter Pact. For this reason, we also strive to operate climate neutral by 2030.

Reduce environmental impact

As a Dutch family business, it is important for us to support not only European but also Dutch objectives. For example, during the construction of our new headquarters in Den Bosch, we made sure to reuse part of the rainwater and installed solar panels on both the new headquarters and our Data & Cloud Center.

We also hold the ISO 14001 environmental management certificate. This certification is awarded when an organization implements an environmental management system focused on continuously improving its environmental impact. We earned this certification, among other things, through our efforts to make our new headquarters as energy-neutral as possible. In addition to the ISO 14001 certificate, we recently received the silver medal from EcoVadis 2023.

Our efforts to increase focus on CSR can be found in our CSR report.

Interconnect switches completely to Dutch green energy

In addition to previous efforts, we have decided to switch entirely to Dutch green energy.

Both businesses and households are connected to the same power grid, where no distinction is made between grey and green electricity. However, it is still possible to guarantee that our entire power consumption comes from green sources.

By purchasing Dutch Guarantees of Origin (GvOs), we ensure the use of green energy generated in the Netherlands. A GvO is a certificate that proves the energy comes from a renewable source. By choosing to buy Dutch GvOs specifically, we indirectly support initiatives that increase the supply of green energy within the Netherlands. In this way, we also contribute to achieving the goals of the DDA and the Climate Neutral Datacenter Pact.

Impact on your supply chain

Our efforts to reduce our environmental impact are reflected in improved CSR results. This benefits not only the environment but also positively influences the services provided by our customers. It allows you to highlight in your CSR report that both your organization and your suppliers are actively working to reduce their environmental impact.

Is your organization required to comply with the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) guidelines? If so, the focus on CSR from your suppliers is very important. The new standards require you to pay greater attention to the environmental measures taken throughout your entire supply chain.
