Where is your data?

What is data sovereignty?

Now that data is spread across countless cloud services and thus (worldwide) locations, knowing where it really is is no longer a given. This is about the principle that organizations retain full control over their data: where is it, who has access to it and under which laws and regulations does it fall?

At Interconnect, we know that data security and compliance go beyond technical measures. That is why we offer data center and cloud solutions that guarantee data sovereignty: infrastructure that falls entirely under Dutch jurisdiction, is physically housed in our own data centers in the Netherlands and meets the strictest requirements of European legislation and regulations (such as the GDPR).

What does data sovereignty mean?

Data sovereignty means that you as an organization retain full control over your data: where it is stored, who has access to it, and under which legislation it falls. This is increasingly important in an era where data is spread across international cloud platforms and cross-border regulations can create uncertainty.

Why is it relevant to your organization?

When data is stored with foreign providers, it can be subject to laws such as the US CLOUD Act, even if the data is physically located in Europe. This can conflict with European legislation such as the GDPR. By choosing a local partner such as Interconnect, you avoid these risks and your data remains within Dutch and European jurisdiction - fully transparent and verifiable.
