Automation for independent opticians
Ocuco (derived from 'ocular company') has been around since 1993, has 350 employees and is active worldwide. The company is an international market leader and develops software for opticians in 85 countries. Ocuco specializes in shop automation solutions for opticians and offers a complete package. Connections with equipment for eye measurements and accounting programs, software for orders, payments, purchasing and delivery. Everything is taken care of.
Data in the store
Ocuco noticed that many opticians still managed their data on servers in the store. This had a major disadvantage, as important data was not always and everywhere available. If an optician wanted to update the administration during the weekend or if an IT problem occurred, the optician was forced to go to the physical location. And when Ocuco had to perform a software update, it often took days to get all the opticians on the line and up-to-date. Not efficient and extremely time-consuming.
In addition, the measuring equipment operated independently, which required a lot of manual work to order glasses or lenses and increased the chance of errors. In addition, the new GDPR legislation made opticians think about their security. In the event of theft or fire, customer data would end up on the street or possibly be lost completely.
More agility thanks to the cloud
In order to improve the IT landscape at the back, Ocuco was one of the first companies in the optical world to opt for the cloud.
